Barcelona cool Rabiot interest

Barcelona’s interest in Adrien Rabiot of Paris Saint-Germain has cooled down, according to Marca.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been excluded from the squad at PSG after rejecting no less than three offers of a new deal, with his current one expiring after the end of this season. He has been linked strongly with Barcelona, but with other European clubs as well, and the report suggest the Catalans aren’t willing to meet his demands in terms of wages and a sign-on fee. They don’t feel pressured into going for Rabiot for whatever cost, given the abundance of quality their midfield already boasts – Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitić, Arthur, Philippe Coutinho, Arturo Vidal and Carles Alena. Frenkie de Jong is also due to arrive soon from Ajax.

However, the future of Coutinho is set to be re-assessed in the summer with the feeling of disappointment towards him growing daily, and that of Rakitić still hasn’t been resolved either, though the Croatian has indicated that he would like to stay at Camp Nou.

Marca believe this development likely means Rabiot will be moving to a Premier League club, rather than Barcelona.
