Barcelona in late bid for Mesut Ozil

Spanish media outlet Cadena Cope claims that Barcelona are readying a late assault on Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.

While the transfer window has closed in England and most other European countries, Spanish clubs have until midnight tonight to recruit new players and the Catalans plan to take advantage of the opportunity.

Having failed to agree a deal with Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona will make a move on Mesut Ozil.

It is no secret that the Germany hotshot has just one year left on his deal at the Emirates and the Catalans reportedly plan to start the bidding at £55 million.

Arsenal managed to hold on to Alexis Sanchez as they failed to find him a replacement in order to sanction his move to Man City, but the Gunners are unlikely to consider selling Ozil this summer.
