Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool agree Jarell Quansah transfer

According to multiple sources, Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement with Liverpool over a proposed transfer of Jarell Quansah. This will be the third time the two clubs have done business this summer, with Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz having gone the other way.

The transfer of the 22-year-old defender will potentially be worth a total of £35million, with £30million guaranteed and £5million in the form of add-ons. The Premier League champions will, however, have a buy-back clause inserted into the deal.

Liverpool are reportedly looking at Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as they seek to avoid their centre-back ranks getting thinner, a problem that has appeared for Leverkusen as Jonathan Tah makes his way to Bayern Munich and with Odilon Kossounou sealing a permanent move to Atalanta after a loan spell in Bergamo.

As for Quansah, the England Under-21 international obviously needs regular game-time to make the next step in his development, something he has found hard to come by at Anfield in the presence of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
