Ten-man Bayern Munich suffered a shock 3-2 defeat against lowly Bochum, who produced an inspired turnaround at the Allianz Arena.
Vincent Kompany’s side, who had Joao Palhinha sent off, surrendered a 2-0 advantage as they suffered their first loss in 11 matches across all competitions.
All appeared to be going to plan for Bayern when Raphael Guerreiro fired them into a 14th-minute lead.
Despite Serge Gnabry missing a penalty – hitting the post after Jakov Medic fouled Leroy Sane – the hosts doubled their advantage on 28 minutes as Thomas Muller cushioned Hiroki Ito’s cross for Guerreiro to finish.
Medic halved the deficit soon after by drilling in from the edge of the box, before Bayern were reduced to 10 men in the 42nd minute; Palhinha shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Giorgos Masouras.
Ibrahima Sissoko dragged the visitors level six minutes after the restart, as he headed home Felix Passlack’s cross at the far post.
Bochum then completed a remarkable turnaround 19 minutes from time, Masouras dummying Philipp Hofmann’s pass for Matus Bero to apply the finishing touch.
3 – FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have all lost on the same Bundesliga matchday for the first time since MD20 in 2006-07. Surprising.

Data Debrief: Bochum bounce back
Bayern’s 10-match winning streak in Bundesliga on home soil came to an abrupt end, with Bochum claiming only their second away league win of the season.
Guerreiro put the hosts in control as he scored two goals in a Bundesliga game for the first time since netting twice against Schalke in May 2020.
However, Bayern would be beaten at home after leading at half-time for the first time since losing to Leipzig in May 2023.
Meanwhile, for the first time since December 2009 against Hannover, Bochum won a Bundesliga match in which they had trailed by two or more goals.
Thankfully for Bayern, they remain eight points clear at the Bundesliga summit, after second-place Bayer Leverkusen were beaten 2-0 by Werder Bremen.
In fact, Bayern, Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have all lost on the same Bundesliga matchday for the first time since matchday 20 in 2006-07.
