Liverpool Coach Rafael Benitez confirms that captain Steven Gerrard and defender Glen Johnson are ruled out while Torres is fit and may play in the Saturday’s fixture against Fulham.

Midfielder Steven Gerrard has still not recovered and it is feared that he may have to undergo a surgery to get rid of his groin injury.

Gerrard will be absent for Liverpool again tomorrow as he struggles to recover from groin injury that got aggravated during his 25 minutes appearance in last week’s Champions League loss to Lyon.

The Reds are hesitant to opt for surgery but it may be an option if Gerrard fails to recover from physiotherapy treatments.

Rafael Benitez has lost hope on Gerrards immediate recover but is positive that striker Fernando Torres may play in the premier league clash tomorrow.

Defender Glen Johnson too is sidelined for a week after tearing his calf during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United last Sunday.

“Gerrard is still working with the physio so we will see. Hopefully, Torres will be OK, but for Gerrard maybe it is more difficult,” Benitez told The Daily Mail.

“Johnson has a small tear in his calf, so we will lose him for maybe one week,” he added.

Benitez is also without Martin Kelly and Albert Riera for tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Fulham. However, Javier Mascherano returns after serving his one-match suspension for two yellow cards against Man Utd.
