Benzema confident he will shine at Real

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is confident he will get the chance to shine at the Spanish giants and has dismissed reports that he does not get along with new coach Jose Mourinho.

“I am working hard to earn more playing time. Once I play people will see what I am capable of. I am sure I will succeed with Real Madrid. I don’t have a single doubt,” he said in comments published Friday on Real’s website.

“If I have to defend and run, I will. That is fine. I will work harder to play more and to prove to everyone that I am a good forward that can score a lot of goals and play pretty football.

“Mourinho is a great coach and he has faith in me. He has told me that I need to run more. What I like most about him is that he is daring. He is one of the best coaches I have had,” he added.

Benzema has struggled to establish himself at Real since his big-money move from Lyon in 2009, scoring just eight goals in his first league campaign and netting only once so far this term.

He has made six appearances for Real in the Spanish league this season, playing for a total of 177 minutes, of which 71 minutes were as a starter.

The France international, who was omitted from his country’s World Cup squad this summer, has been linked with a move away from Real but club officials insist they are not looking to get rid of the 22-year-old.

“All I ever dreamed about since I was 17 was playing for Real Madrid, so my signing day was very special. I fulfilled my dream and that of players all over the world,” he said.

“I feel much more integrated now. My Spanish is better and I understand almost everything. I love Madrid, but my favorite spot is the Santiago Bernabeu,” he added.
