Betis to sign Guido Rodriguez

Real Betis have agreed deal to sign Guido Rodriguez from Liga MX side America, according to AS.

Apparently, the player’s agent has confirmed that the negotiations between the two clubs are in their final stage. The transfer fee has been set at $10 million with the Mexican side to keep 20% of his economic rights, and Rodriguez will sign a contract making him a Betis player for the next four and a half years.

The 25-year-old Argentinian is a midfielder with primarily defensive duties. His professional career started with River Plate back in 2014. Since then, he has also played for Defensa y Justicia and Tijuana, before joining America in the summer of 2017 for around $7 million. This season he has played in 22 games, finding the opposition net on three occasions.

He is expected to fly to Spain some time next week to complete the transfer and start training with his new teammates. His arrival should be a significant boost for Betis boss Rubi, who has mostly been forced to field defenders in his position this season.
