Competition: A-League

Market: Adelaide United win

Odds: 5/6 @ 888sport

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Tuesday morning, Adelaide will welcome Newcastle to Coopers Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, while Adelaide might have been last seen putting in a flat display away at Wellington earlier in the month, Carl Veart’s men should be smelling the chance to find an immediate response here. Last seen getting hit with a 3-1 loss on the road, that result brought an end to their five-match unbeaten run. Nevertheless, impressing many across the A-League since opening up the new campaign, they have also gained a reputation for their continued success at Cooper Stadium. On a run that is highlighted by a thumping 3-0 romp against Melbourne Victory on November 11th, Adelaide have lost just one of their previous nine showdowns in South Australia – a run that stems all the way back to the start of April. Looking to potentially break into the AFC Champions League spots in midweek, Veart’s side are rightfully tipped as a standout pick.

As for the visitors, while Newcastle claimed a much-needed boost away at Central Coast earlier in the month, it appears that was nothing more than a minor boost for the A-League strugglers. Last seen on December 21st when putting in another nightmare display as they slumped to a woeful 3-0 drumming away at the Mariners, Arthur Papas’ men are in the midst of a real nightmare. Battling it out at the foot of the table and knowing that they face a tough test here, the Jets have now lost five of their previous six domestic showdowns. It should also be noted, suffering a 2-0 defeat when they last faced off against Adelaide on July 30th, they hold a worrying record against Tuesday’s hosts. Losing each of their last five straight meetings against the top-two hopefuls, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Bet: Adelaide United 5/6 to beat Newcastle Jets in Tuesday’s A-League showdown @ 888sport
