Competition: Spanish Segunda

Market: Albacete win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Segunda table, Albacete will welcome Malaga to the Estadio Carlos Belmonte on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, eventually suffering a 1-0 loss away at Tenerife last weekend, there is no doubt that Albacete will be seeking an immediate response here. However, while Ruben Albes’ side might have seen their eye-catching flurry come to an end last time out, they are still leading the chase to claim a play-off spot in 2023. Only continuing on a remarkable run of form since making their second-tier return this season, the mood around the Estadio Carlos Belmonte appears to be at a red-hot high. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their last eight straight Segunda outings – a run that stems all the way back to December 3rd – Albacete should be smelling a real chance this weekend. It should also be noted, Albes’ side have won each of their previous three Segunda home fixtures by an aggregate score of 7-0.

As for the visitors, while Malaga might have eventually extended on their Segunda status last season, Los Albicelestes are in the midst of another second-tier nightmare. Last seen putting in another toothless display as they were hit with a 1-0 loss at home against Real Oviedo, Sergio Pellicer’s men have failed to win any of their last six straight domestic outings. In fact, the former Spanish heavyweights have recorded just a single Segunda victory from their previous nine Segunda appearances – a run that stems all the way back to December 18th. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat in the drop zone and already five points adrift of safety, Malaga have also shown a string of issues on the road this season. Without an away win to their name since the end of August, we’re backing a home victory on Sunday afternoon.

Bet: Albacete 19/20 to beat Malaga in Sunday’s Segunda showdown @ 888sport
