Bitesize Prediction: Aston Villa vs West Ham – 28/06/22

Competition: Premier League

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves seeking a Premier League boost on Sunday afternoon, West Ham will make the trip to Aston Villa.

Starting with the hosts, although Aston Villa might have extended on their EFL Cup run earlier in the week after landing a turnaround 4-1 victory away at Bolton, Steven Gerrard still finds real pressure on his shoulders. Having to settle for a sluggish 14th-place finish back in May, the former Rangers boss saw his side put in a worrying display last weekend. Along with opening the 2022/23 campaign with a shock 2-0 defeat away at Premier League returners Bournemouth on August 6th, Villa were last seen getting hit with a 3-1 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace. Continuing to show some extended issues at the back, Sunday’s hosts are also seeking some much-needed stability on home soil. Including their 2-1 win against Everton a fortnight ago, that is just the second home win that Gerrard’s men have collected from their last seven attempts at Villa Park.

As for the visitors, eventually cruising their way to the group stage of this year’s Europa Conference League a few days ago, West Ham will be desperate to build off of that success. However, while David Moyes’ men might have picked up a 6-1 aggregate victory against Danish side Viborg, the one-time Manchester United boss finds his side in the midst of a real Premier League struggle. In fact, including a 2-0 loss at the hands of Brighton last weekend, Sunday’s guests have lost each of their opening three top-flight outings. Nevertheless, looking to get their first point on the board here, Moyes’ side will be boosted by a rampant record against Villa. Landing a 2-1 win when the two sides last faced off on March 13th, West Ham have won each of their last four meetings against the European dreamers.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Aston Villa vs West Ham 4/11 for Sunday’s Premier League showdown @ 888sport
