Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out at opposite ends of the League One table, Bradford will welcome local rivals Rotherham to Valley Parade on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Bradford might have only made their League One return this season, the Bantams have continued on a real third-tier romp. Last seen making an immediate return to winning ways as they clinched a 2-1 victory away at Blackpool, Graham Alexander’s men have rightfully received a string of plaudits from up and down the country. Signing off 2025 with a gritty 1-0 win at home against Port Vale, the Yorkshire-based outfit have won three of their previous four League One appearances. Getting Saturday’s fixtures sat in bronze medal position and just two points adrift of skyrocketing into to the automatic promotion spots, the former Salford boss finds the mood around Valley Parade at a red-hot high. It should also be highlighted, including a 2-1 victory against Wigan on Boxing Day, Bradford have won all of their previous four consecutive showdowns at Valley Parade by an aggregate score of 6-1 and they will be confident of claiming local bragging rights.
As for the visitors, while Bradford might be enjoying a real League One flurry, Rotherham find themselves at the heart of a real third-tier crisis. Last seen getting the New Year underway with a toothless 2-0 loss at home against Peterborough, the Millers have rightfully come under serious scrutiny. Opening Saturday’s trip across Yorkshire sat in the drop zone, Matt Hamshaw’s men look set for what is another stern examination this weekend. Signing off 2025 with a woeful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Blackpool, the former Derby coach has seen his struggling squad lose all of their previous six consecutive League One appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to a 1-1 draw against Wycombe on November 29th. It should also be highlighted, Rotherham have registered just a sole third-tier victory since the end of October and they have also lost their last three straight battles away from the New York Stadium by an aggregate score of 7-1.
