Competition: Spanish Segunda
Market: Goal to be scored in both halves
Odds: 4/5 @ BetUS
Two sides who are firmly scrapping it out at opposite ends of the Segunda standings, Deportivo La Coruna will travel to Cadiz on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, while some in Cadiz’s camp might have opened up the 2025/26 campaign dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine promotion charge, the Yellow Submarine have embarked on an infamous Segunda rut. Getting Friday’s showdown underway holding a three-point buffer over slipping into the drop zone, Imanol Idiakez’s side are bracing themselves for an incredibly nervy night at the JP Financial Estadio. Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny this year, the Andalusia-based outfit look set for what will be another testing challenge here. Breaking a string of unwanted records this season, Cadiz have astonishingly registered just a single point from any of their previous eight consecutive Segunda appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to March 13th. Including a woeful 3-1 drumming at home against Cordoba last month, Friday’s hosts have shown some rather glaring defensive struggles. In fact, Idiakez’s men have remarkably claimed just a sole clean sheet so far this calendar year.
As for the visitors, while Cadiz might find themselves at the heart of a public nightmare, Deportivo have firmly cemented their spot as one of Spain’s ultimate surprise packages this season. Travelling to Andalusia this weekend sat just two points adrift of skyrocketing into the automatic promotion spots, Antonio Hidalgo’s men find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Last seen putting in another eye-catching performance as they secured a 2-1 victory at home against Leganes, the Blue and Whites are unbeaten in all of their previous nine straight Segunda showdowns – a purple patch that stems back to March 8th. With their extended flurry underlined by a thumping 3-1 win against Mirandes last month, Deportivo should be smelling the chance to make another promotion statement here. It should also be highlighted, Hidalgo’s side secured a thrilling 4-2 victory when they last travelled to the JP Financial Estadio back in November 2024.
