Competition: EFL Trophy

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who will be looking to extend on their EFL Trophy adventure on Wednesday night, Colchester will welcome Bristol Rovers to Essex.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make a much-needed return to winning ways over the weekend, Colchester will be desperate to build off of that display here. Eventually claiming a 3-0 romp against Doncaster, the Essex-based outfit also found a route out of the drop zone. With retaining their Football League status at the top of their agenda this season, Matt Bloomfield’s men should be boosted by their continued success on home soil. Including back-to-back 2-1 victories against Harrogate and Charlton last month, the U’s are unbeaten in front of their own supporters since the end of September. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, along with a lively 2-2 draw against Crawley on October 25th, Colchester have seen four of their last five home fixtures finish with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, while Bristol Rovers might have only made their League One return this season, they are enjoying what has been a largely impressive run of form. Losing just one of their last 12 straight matchups across all formats – a run that stems all the way back to the end of September – Joey Barton’s men are also coming off the back of another rugged display over the weekend. Shocking many as they picked up a 1-0 win against promotion contenders Peterborough on home soil, Rovers could be smelling the chance to spring an EFL Trophy upset here. However, with Barton’s side last seen on their travels getting hit with an action-packed 4-2 defeat against Derby on October 29th, neutrals could be treated to another enjoyable affair in Essex.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Colchester vs Bristol Rovers 4/11 for Wednesday’s EFL Trophy tie @ 888sport
