Bitesize Prediction: Dundalk vs UC Dublin – 01/07/22

Tom Dunstan in Betting Tips and News 30 Jun 2022

Competition: Irish Premier Division

Market: Dundalk win to nil

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who are battling it out at opposite ends of the Premier Division table, Dundalk will welcome UC Dublin to Oriel Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Dundalk might have been disappointed to have only collected a single point away at Shelbourne last weekend, the Irish heavyweights are still enjoying an eye-catching run of form. Simply hoping to make up some ground in the Premier Division title chase, Head Coach Stephen O’Donnell will be smelling a golden chance on Friday night. Now in the midst of a stellar 10-match unbeaten run, a run that stems all the way back to April 18th, Dundalk have also continued to shine with their displays at the back. It should be highlighted, this weekend’s hosts have recorded a clean sheet in each of their last four domestic showdowns on the spin. Winning each of their last seven Premier Division showdowns in front of their own supporters, O’Donnell men are rightfully tipped as a landslide pick here.

As for the visitors, while Dundalk might be firmly battling it out at the top of the Premier Division table, the same cannot be said for UC Dublin. Last seen getting hit with a 1-0 loss at home against Derry City, it appears that the Blues are freefalling their way out of Ireland’s top-tier. Sat rock-bottom of the table and knowing that they face a huge task here, Andrew Myler’s men have also mustered just a single point from their last five outings. Only continuing to show a string of issues at both ends of the pitch, it should also be noted that the Students hold a woeful record at Oriel Park. Including what was a nightmare 7-1 drumming when Friday’s opponents faced off back in 2020, UC Dublin have lost each of their last six straight trips to Dundalk. Given the huge recent gulf in class, we’re backing a routine home win here.

Bet: Dundalk 10/11 to beat UC Dublin in Friday’s Irish Premier Division showdown @ 888sport
