Competition: Copa do Brasil

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 3/10 @ BetUS

Looking to finish off the job and extend on their Copa do Brasil adventure in midweek, Palmeiras will travel to the Casteliao when they meet Fortaleza for their second-leg showdown late on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, although Fortaleza might know that they’re seeking a real Copa do Brasil miracle on Wednesday night, Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s side have found a welcomed boost over the past week. Along with claiming an action-packed 3-2 win at home against Argentinian outfit San Lorenzo on May 24th while on Copa Sudamericana duties, the ex-Huracan boss has seen his men claim back-to-back victories for the first time over the past month. However, putting in a nightmare first-leg display when they travelled to Palmeiras a fortnight ago as they slumped to a 3-0 drumming, the Tricolor will be glad to make a return to home soil here. Last seen at the Castelao picking up a deserved 2-0 win against Vasco last weekend, Fortaleza are unbeaten in each of their last nine straight showdowns in front of their own supporters – a run that stems back to a 3-2 loss against Ceara on March 29th.

As for the visitors, storming their way to that 3-0 first-leg victory when they welcomed Fortaleza to the Allianz Parque on May 17th, Palmeiras will simply be looking to finish off the job here. While the Brazilian heavyweights might have been forced to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Atletico-MG last weekend, Abel Ferreira’s men are in the midst of yet another domestic romp. Tipped as a standout contender to defend their Serie A crown this season, the Big Green are unbeaten in each of their last 15 straight appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to April 5th. Really gaining a reputation for their free-scoring displays and opening May with a 5-0 romp away at Goias, the former Braga boss should also be excited by a stellar record against Thursday’s opponents. Including that first-leg 3-0 win a fortnight ago, Palmerias have won back-to-back meetings against Fortaleza by an aggregate score of 7-0.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Fortaleza vs Palmeiras 3/10 for Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil tie @ BetUS
