Competition: National League

Market: Halifax win

Odds: 20/21 @ 888sport

Two sides who will be looking to find a route into the top-half of the National League table, Halifax will welcome Dorking to The Shay on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make an immediate return to winning ways over the weekend with a stellar display on home soil, Halifax will be looking to lay down another marker here. Eventually picking up a 1-0 victory against promotion contenders Chesterfield at The Shay, Chris Millington’s men could have their sights set on mounting another late play-off charge. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their last six National League outings, the Blues will also be boosted by what has been a rampant run of form in Yorkshire. In fact, including that shock 1-0 win a few days ago, it should be noted that Halifax have won each of their last five straight showdowns on home soil by an aggregate score of 7-1. Picking up victories against the likes of Dagenham & Redbridge and Boreham Wood, Millington’s side should be smelling a chance here.

As for the visitors, while Dorking might have been last seen over the weekend playing out a 1-1 draw away at Maidenhead, it doesn’t cover what has been a worrying blip for the Wanderers. With it looking like their 1-0 win against York last month was just a minor boost, it’s worth noting that is the only National League victory that Marc White’s men have collected from their previous seven attempts. Slipping their way down the fifth-tier table, there is no doubt that Dorking will know that they face a tough test on Tuesday night. Continuing to show some extended issues in the final third, the Surrey-based outfit have also gained a reputation for their struggles on the road. Including a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Altrincham on October 8th, the midweek guests have failed to record a single win on their travels since the middle of September.
