Competition: National League

Market: Halifax win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Hoping to move within touching distance of the play-off places in midweek, Halifax will host Dorking on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another gritty display over the weekend as they picked up a 1-0 win at home against Boreham Wood, there is no doubt that Halifax will be looking to build off of that success here. Despite watching their FA Cup adventure come to a shock end away at Ebbsfleet earlier in the month, Chris Millington’s men have their sights set on claiming another play-off spot this season. Knowing that three points on Tuesday night would move them within striking distance of the top-seven, the Yorkshire-based outfit are enjoying a real National League purple patch. On a run that is highlighted by a 2-0 victory against Dagenham & Redbridge on October 22nd, Halifax have won each of their previous four fifth-tier showdowns by an aggregate score of 6-1.

As for the visitors, while Halifax might be enjoying a rampant run on National League duties, the same cannot be said for a struggling Dorking. Last seen over the weekend eventually getting hit with an action-packed 3-2 loss at home against Bromley, the Surrey-based outfit have failed to win any of their previous five fifth-tier outings. With many around Meadowbank fearing that their side could be dragged into a relegation scrap this season, the Wanderers have also picked up just a single victory since back on October 1st. Showing some rather glaring issues at the back and recording just a single clean sheet since opening the 2022/23 campaign, Dorking will know that they face a tough test here. Given the recent gulf in class, we’re backing a home win on Tuesday night.
