Competition: Veikkausliiga

Market: HJK win

Odds: 1/2 @ 1xBet

Knowing that they could climb to the top of the Veikkausliiga table on Wednesday night, HJK will welcome Haka to Helsinki.

Starting with the hosts, after relinquishing their Veikkausliiga crown last season, HJK are desperate to reclaim their domestic title this time around. Getting Wednesday’s showdown underway sat just three points adrift of finding a route to the top of the table, interim boss Miika Nuutinen’s men are enjoying a real purple patch. Last seen putting in another dominant display as they stormed their way to a 4-0 romp away at Oulu. Likewise, extending on their Soumen Cup adventure earlier in the month as they claimed an eye-catching 1-0 victory against Mikkeli, Wednesday’s hosts are unbeaten in all of their previous 10 consecutive appearances across all competitions – a purple patch that stems all the way back to April 22nd. Looking to make another statement here, HJK will also be excited by their rugged defensive steel. In fact, along with recording a clean sheet in all of their last three straight outings, the title contenders have also shipped just a single strike in almost 500 minutes of action.

As for the visitors, although Haka might have punched their respective Suomen Cup quarter-final spot earlier in the month, Andy Smith’s side are enduring a Veikkausliiga struggle. Scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the table, Wednesday’s guests have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous seven top-flight appearances. With their recent issues highlighted by a 3-1 drumming at home against KuPS on May 16th, the one-time Sheffield United striker will be bracing himself for another stern examination here. Pencilled in as a real underdog contender in midweek, Haka will also be concerned by their most recent showdown against the title dreamers. Slumping to another 3-1 loss when they met HJK back on February 2nd, they also hold a woeful record in Helsinki. In fact, Smith’s side have lost 10 of their last 11 trips across all competitions – a rut that stems back to a 1-1 stalemate in January 2012.

Bet: HJK 1/2 to beat Haka in Wednesday’s Veikkausliiga matchup @ 1xBet
