Competition: Nations League

Market: Israel win

Odds: 20/21 @ 888sport

Looking to open their Nations League adventure with a statement on home soil, Israel will welcome Iceland to the Sammy Ofer Stadium on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, last seen back on March 29th when mounting a second-half comeback against Romania in a friendly showdown, Israel have enjoyed an impressive run in recent times. Despite missing out on the chance to book a World Cup play-off spot, Head Coach Alon Hazan did see his side snatch third-place ahead of Austria. Signing off their qualifying run with an action-packed 3-2 win against the Faroe Islands, the Blue and Whites have also continued to gain a reputation for their success on home soil. Including a thumping 5-2 win against Austria at the Sammy Ofer Stadium back in September, Israel are unbeaten in each of their previous five contests in Haifa. Claiming a 3-2 win the last time they faced off against Thursday’s guests 12 years ago, Hazan’s side should be smelling a chance here.

As for the visitors, last seen back in March getting hit with a routine 5-0 drumming away at former world champions Spain, Iceland really find themselves in the midst of an extended nightmare. Enduring a woeful time during the inaugural UEFA Nations League, Arnar Viðarsson’s side came freefalling out of Group A without collecting a single point. Likewise, on a run that is highlighted by a stunning 5-1 drumming at the hands of South Korea back on January 15th, the Blues have also recorded just a single victory over the past 12 months. Quickly gaining a reputation from across Europe for their rather glaring issues at the back, Iceland will face a stern test when they travel to Haifa here. Failing to win any of their previous seven contests on foreign soil, we’re backing a home victory on Thursday night.

Bet: Israel 20/21 to beat Iceland in Thursday’s Nations League matchup @ 888sport
