Competition: EFL Cup

Market: Leyton Orient win

Odds: 23/20 @ 888sport

Two sides who turn their attention back to EFL Cup duties on Tuesday night, Leyton Orient will welcome Sutton to Brisbane Road.

Starting with the hosts, while Leyton Orient might have been disappointed to have had to settle for a bottom-half finish last season, the O’s have come flying out of the traps this time around. In the midst of what has become a stellar purple patch, Richie Wellens’s men find themselves leading the chase at the top of the League Two table and holding a four-point buffer over the chasing pack. Picking up some perfect momentum over the weekend as they landed a 1-0 victory at home against Walsall, the ex-Salford boss has seen his side win five of their previous six domestic matchups. Likewise, winning each of their last three fourth-tier showdowns by an aggregate score of 4-0, Orient should also be excited by their eye-catching run of form on home soil. It should be highlighted, Wellens’s men have won each of their last five straight battles at Brisbane Road.

As for the visitors, after just missing out on a play-off spot last season, it is no secret that Sutton are desperate to go one step further this time around. Last seen over the weekend making an immediate return to winning ways thanks to a 2-0 victory at home against Hartlepool, Matt Gray’s men are enjoying their own recent purple patch. In fact, on a run that stems back to August 20th, the Londoners have won four of their previous five domestic contests. However, knowing that they face a tough test when they travel across the capital here, it should be noted that Sutton have shown some extended issues on the road. Last seen away from Gander Green Lane getting hit with an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of Swindon, Tuesday’s guests have failed to win any of their last five showdowns outside of south London.
