Competition: Nations League

Market: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport

In a Nations League opening showdown that could be a contest low on quality, Liechtenstein will host Moldova on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, last seen back in March when only continuing on a nightmare run of form, Liechtenstein have really cemented their spot as one of Europe’s main whipping boys. Signing off their World Cup qualifying campaign last year by mustering just a single point from their 10 Group J matchups, Martin Stocklasa’s side have failed to win any of their last 18 straight outings. With their dreadful run of form stemming all the way back to October 2020, Liechtenstein have also shown a string of issues at both ends of the pitch. Including a stunning 6-0 drumming against Cape Verde in a friendly showdown earlier in the year, Liechtenstein have also drawn a blank in their last five appearances on the spin. Likewise, it should also be noted, Friday’s hosts have recorded just a single strike on home soil since October 2019.

As for the visitors, last seen back on March 29th when suffering Nations League heartbreak against Kazakhstan, Moldova find themselves in an almost identical position to Friday’s opponents. Freefalling their way down to League D after their penalties defeat on foreign soil, Head Coach Serghei Cleșcenco has seen his side lose each of their last 11 straight outings. With their own nightmare run of form stemming all the way back to a 1-0 win against Azerbaijan in a friendly contest 12 months ago, the Blues have gained a reputation for their glaring struggles at the back. However, in a showdown that could prove to be low on quality here, don’t be surprised to see a low-scoring affair. With each of their previous two meetings finishing with under 2.5 goals, we’re backing a similar outcome this weekend.

Bet: Under 2.5 goals at Liechtenstein vs Moldova 4/6 for Friday’s Nations League contest @ 888sport
