Competition: A-League
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 2/3 @ BetUS
Knowing that they can take a giant leap towards an iconic maiden A-League crown, Auckland will travel to AAMI Park on Saturday morning when they meet Melbourne Victory.
Starting with the hosts, while Melbourne might have entered March’s international break with a 4-2 defeat against Western Sydney, the Victory have proven that result was nothing more than a minor blip. Putting in a rampant performance last weekend as they secured a 3-2 victory away at Wellington, Arthur Diles’ men are sat firmly in the driving seat to punch another play-off ticket. Despite opening 2025 in the midst of a real struggle, the former Newcastle coach has seen his squad come roaring back in an eye-catching fashion. Skyrocketing their way up the table, Melbourne have also impressed with their clinical performances in the final third. Signing off March with a dramatic 5-3 victory against Adelaide, Saturday’s hosts have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous seven A-League appearances. Storming their way to a 3-0 romp against Central Coast last month, Diles’ side have notched 13 goals in just their last four outings.
As for the visitors, although Auckland might have only made their A-League debut this season, the Black Knights have shattered a string of records. Holding a four-point buffer at the top of the table, Steve Corica’s side have rightfully received a string of plaudits. However, eventually forced to settle for an action-packed 2-2 stalemate away at Sydney last time out, the one-time Wolves midfielder has seen his squad collect just a single point from five of their previous six A-League appearances. Getting March underway with what was a remarkable 4-4 draw against Adelaide, Saturday’s guests will also be excited by their extended success away from the Go Media Stadium. In fact, Auckland have suffered just a sole defeat on their travels so far this season. It should be highlighted, with Corica’s camp seeing six of their previous seven A-League showdowns finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome on Saturday morning.
