Market: Monaco win

Odds: 13/10 @ 888sport

In a battle between two French heavyweights on Sunday night, Monaco will welcome Marseille to the Stade Louis II.

Starting with the hosts, while Monaco might have endured somewhat of an October wobble, it appears that the Monegasques have put those issues behind them. Last seen picking up a 2-0 victory away at Toulouse, Philippe Clement’s men have their sights set on securing another top-four finish this season. Now winning each of their last three appearances across all competitions, the former Club Brugge boss also saw his side book their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Europa League. Looking to head into the pre-World Cup break with another statement, Monaco should be boosted by their continued success on home soil. Including a thumping 4-1 romp against Red Star Belgrade when opening November, it should be noted that Clement’s side have taken 13 points from their last five showdowns at the Stade Louis II.

As for the visitors, managing to pick up what was a much-needed 1-0 victory at home against Lyon last weekend, Marseille must find a way to build off of that display. However, suffering a real Champions League collapse on home soil earlier in the month after getting hit with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Tottenham, there does appear to be some pressure on Igor Tudor’s shoulders. Mustering just a single victory from any of their last six matchups across all formats, the former Verona boss will know that his side could face a stern test on Sunday night. It should also be noted, along with failing to record a victory away from the Stade Velodrome since October 12th, Marseille also got hit with a 1-0 loss in their last trip to Monaco. Two sides who are desperate to claim a top-four finish this season, we’re backing a home victory here.
