Bitesize Prediction: Plymouth vs Watford – 01/01/24

Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 5/6 @ BetUS

In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair from Home Park on New Year’s Day, Plymouth will welcome Watford to Devon.

Starting with the hosts, while Plymouth might have watched their four-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end against Southampton over the weekend, the Pilgrims still sit in pole position to extend on their Championship status. Opening the New Year holding a commanding seven-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, the Devon-based outfit will certainly be excited to make a return to Home Park here. Along with signing opening December with a 2-1 victory against Stoke, Plymouth are unbeaten in all of their previous six straight showdowns in front of their own supporters – a run that stems all the way back to a 3-1 loss against Swansea on October 7th. However, last seen at Home Park playing out a thrilling 3-3 stalemate, Monday’s hosts have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. It should be highlighted, the Pilgrims have seen four of their last five showdowns in Devon finish with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, while Watford might have collected just a single point from their last two Championship appearances over the past week, some around Vicarage Road have their sights set on mounting a play-off charge in 2024. Opening up the New Year sat just four points adrift of breaking into the top-six, the Hornets will be hugely excited by their continued success on the road. Last seen on their travels picking up an eye-catching 2-1 victory against fellow play-off hopefuls Blackburn, Valerien Ismael’s side have won all of their previous three Championship showdowns outside of the capital. With that away day purple patch highlighted by a stellar 5-1 romp against Preston on December 16th, Watford have won those three consecutive contests away from Vicarage Road by an aggregate score of 9-3. Now seeing all of their last nine straight appearances finish with both teams getting on the scoresheet, we are expecting a similar outcome from Home Park here.

Bet: Both teams to score at Plymouth vs Watford 5/6 for Monday’s Championship battle @ BetUS
