Competition: La Liga

Market: Rayo Vallecano win

Odds: 11/10 @ 1xBet

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways this weekend, Rayo Vallecano will welcome Espanyol to the Estadio de Vallecas on Sunday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of a downbeat display last weekend as they suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Real Betis, Vallecano will be glad to make a return to home soil here. With their sights firmly set on clinching an eye-catching top-half finish in 2023, Andoni Iraola’s men have impressed many across La Liga this season. Smelling the chance to claim an immediate boost on Sunday lunchtime, there is no doubt that Los Franjirrojos have certainly shined in front of their own supporters. Last seen at the Estadio de Vallecas picking up a 2-1 win against Valladolid, the former Mirandes boss has now seen his side win each of their last three La Liga showdowns in Vallecas. With that extended flurry highlighted by a famous 2-1 win against newly-crowned champions Barcelona on April 26th, Vallecano have also lost just one of their last seven appearances on home soil – a run that stems all the way back to January 21st.

As for the visitors, putting in a first-half nightmare last weekend as they suffered a 4-2 loss at home against bitter local rivals Barcelona, it is no secret that Espanyol are tipped as a leading relegation pick this month. Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny this season and still sat four points adrift of safety, Luis Garcia’s side have recorded just a sole win from any of their last 11 La Liga appearances. With that woeful run of form stemming all the way back to a 2-1 victory at home against Mallorca on February 25th, the Periquitos appear to be seeking a real top-flight miracle over the final few weeks. Opening May with an action-packed 3-2 loss away at Sevilla, Espanyol have certainly gained a reputation for their struggles on the road. In fact, Garcia’s side have lost each of their previous six showdowns away from the RCDE Stadium. Slumping to a 2-0 loss when they welcomed Vallecano to town back in August, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Bet: Rayo Vallecano 11/10 to beat Espanyol in Sunday’s La Liga matchup @ 1xBet
