Competition: League Two
Market: Stockport win
Odds: 4/5 @ 888sport
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the League Two table, Stockport will make the trip to Rotherham on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Rochdale might have clung to their League Two status last season, it appears that Jim Bentley’s men are freefalling their way out of England’s fourth-tier this time around. Putting in yet another downbeat display over the weekend as they suffered a routine 2-0 loss at home against Gillingham, the Lancashire-based outfit find themselves sat six points adrift of safety. Although the Blues might have clinched a crucial 2-1 victory away at Bradford last month, it appears that was nothing more than a minor boost for the leading relegation scrappers. Along with opening February with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Salford, Rochdale have bagged just a single point from any of their last seven appearances. With that run stemming all the way back to January 10th, Bentley’s side could face a stern test here.
As for the visitors, while Rochdale might be enduring an extended nightmare, Stockport have only continued on a thrilling purple patch. Putting down another marker over the weekend as they claimed a 2-0 victory at home against Stevenage, Dave Challinor’s men should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Now sat in pole position to claim a stunning play-off spot in 2023, the Chashire-based outfit have won each of their previous four appearances on the bounce. With that run highlighted by a 3-1 romp against Harrogate on February 11th, Stockport really are riding quite the wave of momentum. In fact, Challinor’s high-flying squad have lost just one of their last eight matchups across all formats. Likewise, claiming a 2-1 victory when they last made the trip to Lancashire back in 2020, we’re expecting a similar away win on Tuesday night.
