In what should prove to be another frantic USL showdown in the early hours of Thursday, Sacramento will welcome Charleston to California.

Despite getting October underway with a much-welcomed 2-1 victory against Orange County, the Republic have continued to show some real defensive issues. Falling to an action-packed 3-2 defeat against Hartford earlier in the month, Sacramento have recorded just a sole USL clean sheet since the start of September. Limping their way over the finishing line, Thursday’s hosts have also seen just their previous three USL showdowns produce 12 goals at both ends of the pitch.

As for the visitors, enjoying what has become a real purple patch, Charleston should be excited by a trip to California here. Storming their way to a sensational 5-0 romp against the Colorado Springs on October 13th, Ben Pirmann’s men find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Breezing their way to their own respective play-off ticket, the former Memphis boss has not seen his squad suffer a single defeat from any of their previous six consecutive USL appearances. Likewise, tasting just a sole second-tier defeat since the start of August, Thursday’s guests should also be excited by their free-scoring performances in the final third. Including a 4-1 victory against Loudoun on August 24th, Charleston have notched 60 USL strikes so far this season.
