Competition: Primeira Liga

Market: Braga win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Primeira Liga table, Braga will make the trip to Santa Clara on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, although Santa Clara might have impressed many last season as they claimed a seventh-place finish, it is fair to say that Mario Silva’s men have drastically failed to keep up that momentum. Marking their return to Primeira Liga duties on December 29th as they were hit with a worrying 1-0 loss away at fellow strugglers Gil Vicente, the Azoreans find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap. Holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone and enduring what has been a top-flight nightmare, the Reds have clinched just a sole victory from any of their last eight domestic matchups across all formats. With that run stemming all the way back to October 23rd, it should also be highlighted that Santa Clara have won just a single showdown in Ponta Delgada since the start of September.

As for the visitors, marking their Primeira Liga return with a stunning display on December 30th, the mood in Braga’s camp should be at a red-hot high. Eventually breezing their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Benfica, the Archbishops are riding quite the wave of momentum. Sat in pole position to claim another European finish this season, Artur Jorge’s side have now won six of their previous seven domestic showdowns across all formats. With that purple patch stemming all the way back to November 6th, Thursday’s guests will be looking to lay down another marker here. It should also be noted, Braga have collected 12 points from their last five top-flight contests on either side of the World Cup break. Unbeaten in each of their previous five meetings against the relegation scrappers, we’re backing an away victory in midweek.

Bet: Braga 7/10 to beat Santa Clara in Thursday’s Primeira Liga showdown @ 888sport
