Competition: Brazil Serie A

Market: Athletico-PR double chance

Odds: 3/4 @ 888sport

Hoping to try and find a route into the top-four in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Athletico-PR will make the trip to struggling Santos.

Starting with the hosts, while Santos might still have their sights set on clinching a Copa Sudamericana spot this season, the Peixe are in the midst of a recent wobble. Last seen on September 18th when putting in a toothless display as they were hit with a deserved 1-0 loss away at Palmeiras, the Vila Belmiro-based outfit have lost each of their last three Serie A outings on the spin. With their downbeat run highlighted by back-to-back 2-1 defeats at the hands of Ceara and Goias earlier in the month, Santos have also picked up just a single victory since the start of August. Likewise, showing some extended issues in the final third, it should also be noted that the midweek hosts have managed to muster just a single win from any of their last four domestic showdowns against Athletico-PR.

As for the visitors, while Athletico-PR might have now played out three stalemates on the spin, Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men are enjoying an extended unbeaten run. Now unbeaten in each of their last seven domestic contests, a run that stems back to August 17th, the one-time Chelsea boss should be smelling the chance for his side to lay down a marker here. Making the trip to Vila Belmiro on Wednesday sat just a single point adrift of breaking into the top-four, the Furacão have also shown some rugged displays on the road. It should also be highlighted, Athletico-PR have suffered just a single loss away from the Arena da Baixada from any of their last seven showdowns. Playing out a lively 2-2 draw when they faced off against Santos back in June, an away double chance can be found at appealing odds here.

Bet: Athletico-PR double chance against Santos 3/4 for Wednesday’s Brazil Serie A showdown @ 888sport
