Competition: National League
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 5/6 @ Pribet
Already booking their play-off ticket, Rochdale will be looking to extend on their recent purple patch when they travel to Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Solihull might have opened the 2024/25 campaign with many billing them as a standout contender to claim another play-off ticket, the Moors have flattered to deceive. Still sat in the bottom-half of the table and spending large spells of the campaign looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, Matthew Taylor’s men will end the season without many positives to show. Despite getting April underway with three consecutive National League victories, the former Shrewsbury boss saw his side come crashing back down to earth last time out. Falling to a routine 2-0 defeat at the hands of York City, Solihull have continued to show some worrying defensive issues. Despite securing an action-packed 3-2 victory against Boston United in their last showdown on home soil, Taylor’s side have remarkably mustered just a single clean sheet from any of their 18 consecutive appearances so far this calendar year.
As for the visitors, finding top gear at a crucial time of the season, Rochdale have cruised their way to a play-off ticket. Last seen putting in a thumping performance as they stormed their way to a 5-1 romp against rivals Hartlepool, Jimmy McNulty’s side have now registered 10 points from their previous four National League appearances. However, despite being last seen on their travels claiming a 2-1 win against Altrincham, Tuesday’s guests have struggled to find much stability on their travels. Including a run of four consecutive 1-1 stalemates, the Manchester-based outfit have mustered just a sole win from any of their last eight showdowns away from the Scotland Stadium – a run that stems back to a 2-1 victory against Worthing on February 1st. It should also be highlighted, Rochdale have seen five of their previous six away fixtures finish with both teams getting on the scoresheet.
