Bitesize Prediction: Southampton vs Leicester City – 01/12/21

Competition: Premier League

Market: Leicester City win

Odds: 15/8 @ 888sport

Hoping to make it back-to-back Premier League wins on Wednesday night, Leicester will make the trip to St. Mary’s when they face off against Southampton.

Starting with the hosts, while Southampton might have entered November’s international break with a much-welcomed boost, the Saints have once again come tumbling back down. Continuing to gain a reputation for their rather glaring inconsistencies, Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men could still be looking over their shoulder at the drop zone. Blown away on their travels over the weekend as they were hit with a 4-0 drumming against Liverpool at Anfield, the one-time RB Leipzig boss has now seen his side suffer back-to-back Premier League losses. Marking their return from the fortnight break with a shock 2-1 loss against Norwich, Southampton will also be worried by their extended problems against Wednesday’s guests. Including that dreadful 9-0 defeat back in 2019, they have managed to win just one of their last five meetings against the Foxes.

As for the visitors, while Leicester might have also shown their own inconsistencies since opening the 2021/22 campaign, they will be boosted by a welcomed victory last time out. Eventually claiming a 4-2 win against Watford at the King Power, Brendan Rodgers will be desperate for his side to build off of that result. Boosted by their eye-catching record against Wednesday’s hosts, the former Liverpool boss will be calling on attacking talisman Jamie Vardy to spearhead their charge on the south coast. Bagging himself a brace against the Hornets on Sunday, the 34-year-old has racked up nine Premier League goals so far this season. Losing just one of their previous six away fixtures across all formats, an away victory for Leicester at St. Mary’s certainly appear at attractive odds.
