Competition: Ligue 1
Market: Strasbourg win
Odds: 4/7 @ BetUS
Knowing that they can officially punch an iconic Champions League ticket on Saturday night, Strasbourg will sign off the 2024/25 campaign when they welcome Le Havre to the Stade de la Meinau.
Starting with the hosts, while Liam Rosenior might have only arrived at the Stade de la Meinau last summer, Strasbourg have enjoyed a remarkable rise under the former Hull City boss. In fact, heading into their final Ligue 1 showdown of the season, Le Racing find just their goal difference keeping them outside the Champions League spots. However, eventually falling to a shock 2-1 loss away at Angers last week, that is the only defeat that the Blues have suffered from any of their previous 13 consecutive Ligue 1 appearances – a run that stems all the way back to February 2nd. Getting May underway with a famous 2-1 victory against Champions League finalists PSG, Strasbourg will be excited to make a return to home soil here. Including a 3-1 win against St. Etienne last month, Saturday’s hosts have registered 13 points from their previous five top-flight showdowns at the Stade de la Meinau. It should also be highlighted, Rosenior’s side have suffered just a single Ligue 1 defeat in front of their own supporters since the start of November.
As for the visitors, heading into their season-finale sat two points adrift in the relegation play-off spot, Le Havre know that nothing short of a famous victory will be enough on Saturday night. Making an immediate return to losing ways last week as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home against Marseille, the Dean Club have a tremendous amount of pressure on their shoulders here. Coming under real scrutiny last month as they fell to a 5-1 drumming at the hands of Rennes, Didier Digard’s side are seeking a miracle this weekend. Showing some glaring defensive issues and recording just a single clean sheet since the end of November, Le Havre should also be concerned by their most recent showdown against the Champions League dreamers. Hit with a routine 3-0 loss when they welcomed Strasbourg to the Stade Oceane, the former Nice coach finds his squad pencilled in as a landslide underdog here. Likewise, Digard’s men have lost their last three trips to the Stade de la Meinau by an aggregate score of 7-2.
