Competition: National League South

Market: Yeovil win

Odds: 1/1 @ Pribet

Meeting for the second time this week, a high-flying Yeovil will travel to Wordsworth Drive when they battle Somerset rivals Taunton on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, blown away when they arrived at Huish Park on Boxing Day and eventually slumping to a routine 4-1 drumming at the hands of Yeovil, there is no doubt that Taunton face another stern examination here. Firmly looking over their shoulder at a potential relegation scrap in the New Year, Rob Dray’s side have recorded just a single win from any of their previous 11 straight appearances across all competitions. With that extended rut stemming all the way back to September 30th, the Peacocks have also continued to show some glaring defensive issues. Including a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Havant & Waterlooville earlier in the month, Taunton have shipped nine goals in just their last three National League South outings. Likewise, winning just a pair of their previous six showdowns at Wordsworth Drive, Taunton couldn’t have asked for a tougher New Year’s Eve challenge here.

As for the visitors, although Yeovil might have lost their National League status last season, the Glovers appear to be breezing their way to an immediate fifth-tier return. Claiming Somerset bragging rights as they stormed their way to a 4-1 romp against Taunton, Mark Cooper’s side will certainly be calling on a repeat performance here. Opening Sunday’s showdown holding a commanding 10-point buffer at the top of the table, the former Notts County boss has seen his squad come roaring back from their brief November wobble. Now unbeaten in all of their previous five appearances across all competitions, Yeovil should also be excited by their recent success on the road. Last seen away from Huish Park claiming a gritty 1-0 victory against Eastbourne Boro, it should be noted that the Glovers have collected seven points from their last three National League South away fixtures. Landing that 4-1 win on Boxing Day, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Bet: Yeovil 1/1 to beat Taunton in Sunday’s National League South Battle @ Pribet
