Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Toulouse win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been an eye-catching run of form this weekend, Toulouse will welcome Angers to the Stadium de Toulouse on Sunday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, while Toulouse might have only marked their Ligue 1 return over the summer, Philippe Montanier’s men have continued to impress many across France since opening the 2022/23 campaign. Last seen putting in another rugged display on the road as they played out a 1-1 draw away at European contenders Lyon, Les Violets also find just their goal difference keeping them outside the top-half of the table. Likewise, marking their return from September’s international break on October 2nd with an action-packed 4-2 victory at home against Montpellier, the one-time Nottingham Forest boss has seen his high-flying squad lose just one of their previous five Ligue 1 matchups. With that run highlighted by victories against both Reims and Nimes last month, Toulouse should be smelling another golden chance here.

As for the visitors, while Angers might have entered September’s international break enjoying an eye-catching run of form, Les Scoistes have failed to keep up that momentum. Along with marking their return to action with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Marseille, Head Coach Gérald Baticle saw his side put in another downbeat display last weekend. Eventually getting hit with a thrilling 3-2 defeat at home against Strasbourg, the one-time Brest boss has seen his side show some worrying recent issues at the back. Now losing six of their previous eight Ligue 1 outings, a run highlighted by a 5-0 loss against Lyon on September 3rd, Angers should face another tough test on Sunday lunchtime. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing a home victory this weekend.
