Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Toulouse win

Odds: 13/10 @ 888sport

Smelling the chance to extend on their recent Ligue 1 purple patch this weekend, Toulouse will host a struggling Strasbourg on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Toulouse might have only made their Ligue 1 return over the summer, Philippe Montanier’s men are enjoying what has been a stellar top-flight run. Along with heading into September’s international break with a 2-1 victory at home against Nimes, Les Violets have continued to shine since returning to action. Last seen putting in another action-packed display as they eventually picked up a 3-2 win against Angers, the former Real Sociedad boss has seen his high-flying squad gain a string of plaudits from across France. Breaking into the top-half of the Ligue 1 table, Toulouse have now taken 10 points from their last four appearances. Likewise, winning each of their previous four straight matchups at the Stadium de Toulouse, Montanier’s side should be looking to lay down another marker here.

As for the visitors, making an immediate return to losing ways last weekend with a nightmare display on home soil, Strasbourg are in the midst of a recent blip. Last seen getting hit with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of former champions Lille, Julien Stephan’s side have now lost three of their last four Ligue 1 outings. With that run underlined by a 3-1 defeat against Rennes when returning from September’s international break, Le Racing have picked up just a single top-flight win since opening the 2022/23 campaign. Continuing to show a string of issues at the back and now shipping over 1.5 goals in each of their previous four contests, Strasbourg open this weekend’s fixtures sat one-point adrift in the drop zone. Given the recent gulf in class between Sunday’s opponents, a home victory can be found at appealing odds here.
