Bitesize Prediction: Turkey vs Lithuania – 14/06/22

Competition: Nations League

Market: Turkey win to nil

Odds: 8/13 @ 888sport

Rightfully smelling a golden chance to lay down another Nations League marker on Tuesday night, Turkey will welcome Lithuania to Izmir.

Starting with the hosts, while Turkey might still feel frustrated to be competing in League C this year, the Crescent-Stars are enjoying a real Nations League purple patch this time around. Tipped as an overwhelming favourite and already storming their way to the top of the table, Stefan Kuntz’s men were last seen putting in another dominant display. Eventually claiming a deserved 2-0 victory against Luxembourg on foreign soil, the Whites have now won each of their opening three matchups. In fact, winning each of their opening three Nations League showdowns by an aggregate score of 12-0, there is no doubt that Turkey will be boosted by their rampant last meeting against Tuesday’s opponents. Claiming what was a stellar 6-0 romp when they faced off against Lithuania on their travels last week, Turkey should be smelling another golden chance here.

As for the visitors, while Lithuania might have made the trip out to the Faroe Islands last weekend smelling their own chance, it was another evening to forget for Valdas Ivanauskas’ downbeat squad. Throwing away the lead and getting hit with a 2-1 loss on foreign soil, the Yellows are in the midst of an extended nightmare. Losing each of their opening three Nations League contests by an aggregate score of 10-1, the Rinktine have managed to win just one of their last eight matchups across all formats. With that sole victory coming against European whipping boys San Marino back in March, Lithuania will know that they face another huge task here. Suffering that 6-0 drumming when they faced off against Turkey last week, it is hard to see anything other than another routine home victory in midweek.
