Competition: Serie A

Market: Como draw no bet

Odds: 2/3 @ Pribet

Looking to extend on their remarkable Serie A romp this weekend, a high-flying Como will travel to Verona on Sunday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Verona might have all but confirmed their Serie A status for another season, the Mastiffs do have the feel of a squad limping their way over the finishing line. Once again firmly stuck in the bottom-half of the standings, Paolo Zanetti’s side have had little to cheer about. Eventually forced to settle for a 1-1 stalemate at home against Lecce last weekend, the Veneto-based outfit have collected just a single point from any of their previous four Serie A appearances. Signing off April with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Cagliari, Verona are winless since returning from March’s international break. Getting May underway with a 1-0 loss away at defending champions Inter Milan, Sunday’s hosts have also shown some glaring issues in the final third. In fact, Zanetti’s struggling squad have recorded just a single Serie A strike from any of their last five straight outings. It should also be highlighted, Verona have remarkably claimed just a sole win from any of their previous 12 showdowns on home soil – a run that stems all the way back to November 3rd.

As for the visitors, while Como might have only made their iconic Serie A return this season, Cesc Fabregas’ side have enjoyed a real fairytale. Skyrocketing themselves into the top-half of the table, the Volatics have embarked on a famous purple patch and they have rightfully received a string of plaudits from across Italy’s elite. Putting in another stellar display last time out as they cruised their way to a 3-1 victory against Cagliari, the former Arsenal skipper finds the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. In fact, securing consecutive 1-0 wins against Genoa and Parma on either side of opening May, Sunday’s guests have remarkably won all of their previous six Serie A appearances – a run that stems back to a 1-1 draw against Empoli on March 29th. Breaking a host of long-standing records, Como will simply be looking to extend on their astonishing run of form here. It should also be noted, Fabregas’ camp have won their last three away fixtures by an aggregate score of 7-2.
