Competition: National League South
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 3/5 @ Pribet
Two camps who will be desperate to extend on their respective play-ff adventures, Worthing will welcome Maidstone to Woodside Road on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Worthing might have struggled to find much stability over the past six weeks, Chris Agutter’s side signed off the 2024/25 campaign with a thumping display over the weekend. Picking up some perfect momentum as they cruised their way to a 5-1 romp away at Enfield Town, the Rebels will be desperately seeking a repeat performance here. Although the Sussex-based outfit might have won just a trio of their previous nine appearances, they will be excited by their extended success on home soil. Including a 4-1 victory against Chippenham on April 12th, Worthing have suffered just a single defeat from their previous seven consecutive showdowns at Woodside Road – a run that stems back to a 2-1 defeat against Farnborough on February 25th. It should also be highlighted, the Rebels have seen all of their last five National League South matchups finish with both teams finding the net.
As for the visitors, although Maidstone might have wrapped up their own respective play-off ticket with time to spare, George Elokobi’s side would have been disappointed by their largely flat end to proceedings. Signing off the 2024/25 campaign with an action-packed 2-2 stalemate away at Farnborough, the Stones managed to muster just a sole win from any of their final five National League South appearances. Pencilled in as a real outside contender when they travel to Woodside Road on Wednesday night, the one-time Wolves defender will be concerned by a downbeat record against their play-off foes. Slumping to a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Worthing to the Gallagher Stadium on January 25th, Maidstone have lost three of their previous four showdowns. It should also be highlighted, the Kent-based outfit have mustered just a pair of victories from their last nine straight National League South matchups on the road.
