Competition: National League

Market: Wrexham win

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the National League table, Wrexham will host Gateshead on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, after stunningly crashingly out of the play-offs last season, it is no secret that Wrexham are desperate to go one step further this time around. Once again tipped as a standout pick in this year’s promotion chase, Phil Parkinson’s men have enjoyed an eye-catching start to the 2022/23 campaign. Last seen over the weekend picking up an action-packed 3-2 victory away at Woking, the Dragons have lost just one of their opening five National League contests. Likewise, now racking up eight strikes in their back-to-back fifth-tier wins, the ex-Sunderland boss will be calling on his side to lay down another marker on Tuesday night. Likewise, it should also be noted, aside from that remarkable play-off defeat at the hands of Grimsby back in May, that is the only loss that Wrexham have suffered on home soil since November 30th 2021.

As for the visitors, while Gateshead might have managed to make their National League return this summer, it appears that Mike Williamson’s men face a tough task this time around. Yet to pick up a single victory from any of their opening five outings, the Tynesiders already find themselves battling it out at the foot of the table. Last seen getting hit with a toothless 1-0 loss at home against Wealdstone, the one-time Newcastle defender will be more than aware that his side are in for a real challenge here. Rightfully tipped as an underdog shout on Tuesday night, Gateshead should also be worried by their most recent trip to Wales. Suffering a deserved 3-1 loss when they last made the trip to Wrexham, it is hard to see anything other than a similar outcome at the Racecourse Ground.

Bet: Wrexham 4/11 to beat Gateshead in Tuesday’s National League matchup @ 888sport
