Blackpool sign Chopra from Ipswich

Blackpool have announced they have completed the signing of Michael Chopra from Ipswich Town Sky Sports understands.

The much traveled striker has been at Portman Road for the past two seasons, scoring eighteen goals in fifty-three appearances.

The 29 year old has signed a one year contract at Bloomfield Road, and has the option of a further year.

He began his career with Newcastle United, who the Tangerines face in a pre-season friendly on Sunday, before moving to Cardiff City having spent spells on loan with Watford, Nottingham Forest and Barnsley.

A move to Sunderland came in 2007, before the one-time England under 21 international returned to Cardiff on loan twice, re-signing for the Welsh side on a permanent deal four years ago.

Chopra has a goal average of one every three games over his eleven year career, while in two of his seasons with the Bluebirds, he was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year
