Playing out a 1-1 draw when the two sides met last week, Real Betis will welcome Espanyol to the Estadio Benito Villamarín on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Copa del Rey quarterfinal.

Starting with the hosts, while Real Betis might be coming off the back of a 1-0 loss against Athletic Bilbao last weekend, the mood in Quique Setién’s camp should be on a high. Sat just two points adrift of climbing into the top-six in the La Liga table, the Green and Whites have also tended to save their best performances for their matches at the Estadio Benito Villamarín. Putting three past Girona in their last appearance in Sevilla, Betis’ close-fought 2-1 loss against Real Madrid is remarkably their only home defeat since the middle of October. Given Espanyol’s struggles on the road, Setién should be confident of booking his spot in the semi-final.

As for Wednesday’s visitors, shipping four against Real Madrid last week and now without a win in their last three outings, the pressure is really starting to pile on Rubi. Now holding just a single point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone in La Liga, it has been Espanyol’s form away from the RCDE Stadium that has been their biggest problem this season. Coming off the back of a 3-0 loss to Eibar in their last appearance on the road, Rubi’s men have lost six of their last seven away matches and haven’t picked up a victory on the road since the 21st of October.
