Carson backed for England return

(GSM) – West Bromwich Albion manager Roberto Di Matteo believes Scott Carson will earn himself a spot in the future England squads.

The West Brom goalkeeper was left out of England manager Fabio Capello’s latest squad despite having started this season in good form.

But Di Matteo is convinced that his keeper good enough for England and feels Carson can make his way back to his national team’s squad.

The Italian tactician told the Express and Star: “I think Scott, if he keeps performing well like he has been doing, then it’s only a matter of time before he is back in the squad.”

Carson had lost his place in England’s line-up back in 2007 when a blunder from the goalkeeper allowed Croatia to pick up a 3-2 victory over England in what was a crucial encounter in the nation’s unsuccessful European qualification campaign.
