Paris Saint-Germain cruised into the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-0 win over Chelsea in the last-16 second leg, earning a thumping 8-2 victory on aggregate.
Having a 5-2 lead from the first leg, PSG wasted little time in adding to that advantage and ending Chelsea’s hopes of a stunning comeback early in the tie.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came off the bench to grab an assist and two goals that proved the difference in the first leg, and he took little time to come back and haunt Chelsea once more.
Chelsea were carved open by a long punt from Matvey Safonov, and Kvaratskhelia held off Mamadou Sarr long enough to bend an effort past Robert Sanchez just six minutes in.
And just eight minutes later, PSG doubled their lead; after stealing the ball in midfield, Achraf Hakimi pulled it back to Bradley Barcola, who picked out the top-left corner with a stunning volley.
Kvaratskhelia had a second goal disallowed shortly after the half-hour mark for offside, giving Chelsea a reprieve.
The Blues had their chances, with Safonov making a string of fine saves to keep out Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Alejandro Garnacho throughout the game.
And Senny Mayulu made sure of the result in the 62nd minute. Hakimi miscued Vitinha’s cross, but Mayulu was on hand to whip his shot between two defenders and past a helpless Sanchez.

Data Debrief: Reigning champions flex their muscles
PSG’s position in this tie already looked fairly strong, but Luis Enrique warned against complacency in his press conference, and they heeded that.
Kvaratskhelia scored the earliest goal Chelsea have conceded at home in a Champions League knockout game, while he has now been directly involved in 16 goals in his last 19 games in the competition for PSG (10 goals, six assists).
PSG have also enjoyed their recent matches against Premier League sides; this is their fourth consecutive knockout-stage win over an English team, having also knocked out Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal en route to the final last season.
Chelsea will feel they should have at least got on the scoreline, having 18 shots (nine on target), but they accumulated 1.03 expected goals (xG) to PSG’s 1.09 from eight shots, with the Parisiens putting on a clinical display.
