Chelsea are “quietly confident” of signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in the summer transfer window, according to GiveMeSport. Manchester United are also keen on the former Manchester City prospect, but London club Chelsea believe that the striker would choose them.
“Chelsea have had Delap on their radar longer than Manchester United, and internally they believe they have got the edge,” states the report.
“Their early interest shows clear, defined strategy and boss Enzo Maresca is keen on the deal, having known him from their time at Manchester City.”
Delap joined Ipswich from Man City in the summer of 2024. The 22-year-old has scored 12 goals and given two assists in 35 matches in all competitions so far this season. Ipswich are on the verge of getting relegated from the Premier League. Chelsea are aiming to finish in the Premier League top five, while Man Utd look set to end the campaign in the bottom half of the campaign.
