Chelsea consider their options

Chelsea have been slapped with a two-window transfer ban and their request to have the sentence postponed has been denied by FIFA, but they have put in an appeal with the Court of Arbitration of Sport and they hope they may yet be allowed to sign new players this summer.

However, there’s no denying the fact that the uncertainty in which they find themselves has already hampered their efforts; at least one of their targets has already entered into negotiations with other suitors because of Chelsea’s inability to make a guaranteed offer.

The London club have therefore been forced to devise a two-fold plan, one for each eventuality, according to The Telegraph, but there appears to be a sense of acceptance that both will have to include the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.

They had plans for other departures as well with the contract of David Luiz set to expire and either Willian or Pedro intended for sale as the two attackers enter the last 12 months of their contracts. The situations with Luiz hasn’t changed, but the others are now less likely to leave.
