Chelsea reject Real’s opening bid for Hazard

Chelsea have rejected the opening bid by Real Madrid for Eden Hazard, according to the Daily Record.

Hazard hasn’t been keeping his desire to play for the 13-time European champions exactly a secret over the past few months and Chelsea have acted accordingly by securing the arrival of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund for next season. On the other hand, the Belgian has so far refused to make a definitive statement about either going or staying, and he was asked about it on several occasions. All he has revealed was that he would be open to a move to Santiago Bernabeu but that he could also stay at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his career.

The report doesn’t quote any sum as one that was offered to Chelsea for the services of their star forward, but Chelsea are apparently holding out for at least €100 million, which suggests that the amount offered would have been significantly less than that.
