Rob Green is having his medical ahead of a surprise move to Chelsea, according to The Telegraph.
The 38-year-old left Huddersfield town following the expiration date on his contract, having not played at all for their first team last season. He is set to act as the third-choice goalkeeper for the Stamford Bridge outfit. Green’s arrival follows the departures of 24-year-old Jamaal Blackman and 35-year-old Eduardo on loan to Leeds United and Vitesse Arnheim, respectively.
The move also comes in the middle of Chelsea’s struggle to keep hold of their first-choice ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer. The newly appointed manager Maurizio Sarri is confident the tall Belgian will remain at the club, along with other prized assets such as Eden Hazard and Willian, and he plans to hold talks with all three of them as soon as they return from their holidays at the end of the month.
