The Primary transfer window just ended for all MLS clubs, but some of them are already planning their summer moves. Chicago Fire have not had the very best start to the season, but it looks like they are improving in recent weeks. And now they might be in the market for another big-name star this summer.
Chicago have already used all three of their Designated Player slots and they will not be adding a player that will not be counted against Salary cap. But their General Manager Nelson Rodriguez is looking to add more talent in this team and says he has been given permission to sign another star this summer.
“All three of our DPs are out of contract at the end of this year,” Rodriguez explained. “We have not taken a decision on any of them, and won’t until the season is over. And I don’t know what decisions they will make.
“We will be scouting for DPs– we have some players now that we’re tracking that would require DP status. I have permission from ownership that if the right player and right circumstance comes along, we may sign a DP in the summer.”
