Cole could be first January signing at QPR

The Daily Express is today reporting that Joe Cole could be the first name through the door at Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window.

Cole is of course on Liverpool’s books at the minute, but is a fair way down the pecking order and has only played a bit part this campaign.

He was on loan at Lille last season, but came back to the Reds and seemed desperate to prove himself in the English Premier League again.

However, things have not gone that well for the Englishman and he could be on the move  in the New Year.

It is now thought that Harry Redknapp wants to bring him to QPR on loan until the end of the season, and then possibly secure his services on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign.

The 31-year-old was at West Ham United when Redknapp was in charge at Upton Park, so they certainly know each other well and the new Rangers boss believes he does still have the quality to make a real impact in the top flight.

The player’s wages of £90,000-per-week could prove to be a stumbling block, but the deal has every chance of going through.
