Darren Bent has told Football Insider that Rangers left-back Borna Barisic would be a very good signing for Leeds United.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has hailed the Croatia international left-back, and believes that the 27-year-old would make Leeds a better team.

The West Yorkshire outfit will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, and, according to Betfair, are rated at 4/1 to get relegated back to the second tier of English football.

According to Football Insider, Leeds want to sign Barisic, with Rangers looking for £8 million-plus for the defender.

Bent told Football Insider about Barisic to Leeds speculation: “I mean he had a very, very good season last season, he knows what it takes to succeed at a massive club like Rangers.

“For me, I’d be all for that. For the money as well, £8million, that’s money you can take a risk on because that’s not that much money to be fair.

“For me, that would be a very, very good signing and he’s looking to bolster his squad but he’s looking to bolster it in the right areas as well.”

Rangers spell

Barisic has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2018 when he joined from NK Osijek for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £2.2 million.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Barisic provided three assists in 15 Scottish Premiership matches for Rangers during the 2018-19 season, and scored two goals and provided eight assists in 22 league games for Steven Gerrard’s side during the 2019-20 campaign.

Given the importance of Barisic in the current Rangers team, it is hard to see the Gers sanction a move this summer, especially as the new Scottish Premiership campaign is already underway.
